Apple is reportedly planning to declare three models of MacBooks obsolete in April.
MacRumors reports that Apple is going to add 11-inch MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models released in early 2014 to its list of obsolete products this month.
This move will hardly come as a surprise. Apple has released new versions of the 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro over the past eight years—particularly with its custom silicone.
MacRumors notes that the company hasn’t released an 11-inch MacBook Air since 2016, so it probably wants to stop carrying replacement parts for this eight-year-old product.
An internal memo detailing Apple’s plans reportedly claimed that “the MacBook models listed above may remain eligible for battery-only repairs in select countries for a limited time.”
More information about Apple’s obsolete products is available through its website. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment about its plans for these MacBooks.
